Meritxell Alberich Jorda studied biology at the University of Barcelona (Spain), and at the end of her education she moved to The Netherlands as an Erasmus student. She performed her Ph.D. studies at the ErasmusMC, The Netherlands, where she successfully defended her thesis entitled “The peripheral cannabinoid receptor Cb2 in leukemia”. Next, she joined the laboratory of Daniel G. Tenen as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School, Boston, where she continued investigating mechanisms controlling granulopoiesis and contributing to the development of leukemia. In 2012 she moved to Prague, Czech Republic, to establish her own research group. Her laboratory investigates the molecular mechanisms that control hematopoietic stem cell maintenance and fate, with special focus to the pathways and signals that promote granulocytic production.
