Joris van Arensbergen has a scientific background which started with a masters in Neuroscience that included research at Utrecht University and Harvard Medical School. This was followed by his PhD research at the University of Barcelona in the field of transcriptional regulation and Diabetes with Dr. Jorge Ferrer. He then went on to a postdoctoral position at the Netherlands Cancer Institute studying gene regulation with Dr. Bas van Steensel. During this period he developed the SuRE technology which he then went on to commercialize through Annogen.
